Asheville’s Premier Home Organizing Company

Green Mountain Space was established in 2021 to help busy families, moms, professionals, and entrepreneurs with home organizing needs. Owner, Jess Reed, has a long resume filled with service occupations. But, she realized, after watching her parents build a multi-figure cleaning company for 20 years, that the act of serving another human to make their lives easier and less stressed is the greatest gift to happiness.

Pre-Business

Owner, Jess, has more than 20 years of experience in service-based industries where she has helped transform the lives of people by listening, helping them manage their finances, prepping and unpacking during a move, helping donate the personal belongings of a loved one, sharing her experience on the effects of divorce, and what it means to lose a parent. She has moved over 14 times in 12 years, and each time, she went through her home and purged everything that wasn't serving her. She travels light, and soon she realizes the lighter her space is, the freer she feels in having more time to create memories and share experiences. Her previous manager at her last job introduced her to volunteering and its impact on our communities. Where if we give people who have less time, it creates space and capacity to receive.

Early 2021

We are all here for a purpose, and our career choice is choosing to serve people to help them lead a better, simpler, and more organized life. Green Mountain Space's name came from a song (as silly as it may sound) but had a multi-layer meaning. If you know the singer-songwriter, Trevor Hall, we highly recommend checking him out if you are into Indie-Folk Americana with spiritual cadences. The integral definition of our business name is a bit more evolved than naming it after a song.

We've all said it! We all have been there! When we are so busy, we all have had our homes and lives turned upside down.

Green stands for our ECO-friendly solutions when donating unwanted items from our client's homes when we are helping them declutter. Green also stands for choosing sustainable solutions. Sustainability to us is assisting individuals in organizing their space so they know what they have. If you do not understand what you own, duplicates are often purchased, and money spent unnecessarily does not serve you.

The Mountain is what it means. Growth in life is not linear. It has peaks and valleys, ups and downs. If you're going on a Mountain hike, we highly recommend taking a hiking buddy. Think of our company as your organizing buddy. We can help you organize your space alongside you, or you can take advantage of our organizing team and have everything Done-For-You so you can focus on more important things and bring you joy! When you work with us, we will ask you why? Why do you want to be organized? What will it give you?

Being more organized gives you space! Space to breathe, think, celebrate, grieve, dance, move, create, and travel. The big question is, what would you do with more space in your home?

Late 2021

We managed to get through the sweat of summer working solo and taking our time with smaller organizing projects: kitchen move-ins, decluttering, and organizational design. Soon the response and interest in Green Mountain Space as the leading organizing company in Asheville became so overwhelming there had to be more people out there who love to help people and who also love organizing. August is a lighter organizing month because families travel before school starts, and it gives time to begin the hiring process.


We started by hiring two organizers. One organizer had helped families in her past life when she lived in New York before moving to South Asheville. The other recently became an empty nester and provided perspectives on being a working mom while raising her son. Our team provides a unique perspective to our client's spaces based on their experience and knowledge that is more organized and leads to a stress-free, happier, and healthier lifestyle.

We felt it was time to reminisce on where we began and celebrate where we are today. We are writing this at the beginning of March 2023, and we are successfully operating our home organizing business in seven counties across Western North Carolina. We feel blessed and honored to help families, moms, and busy professionals with home organizing needs.
