What 100 hours of organizing looks like
This is not a joke. This space took precisely 100 hours of hands-on organizing by our team of professionals.
During the initial consultation conversation, we asked the family how motivated they were to let things go and declutter. Being a celebratory family decor would be one of the more challenging categories to go through. The current bin system needed to be in the client's favor. They were a grab-and-go, drop-and-go kind of family, which made the multi-purpose bin our go-to from The Container Store. This client LOVES to bake, decorate, create, host, and entertain their family and friends. Their goal was to have an easy-to-maintain system for everyone to follow. They also wanted a defined zone for cleaning products for their Airbnb house cleaners to restock from so their main personal house cleaning items remain untouched.
To give you an understanding about this basement, This was a multi-storage space used to store Christmas decorations, holiday decorations, backstock food, cleaning supplies, Airbnb backstock supplies, shoes, baking, memorabilia, canning, emergency supplies, and personal belongings of 8 people who live in one space. There was even a storage space under the steps used for college preparation.
Organizing does take time, energy, and focus if you want it to be long-lasting and effective.
Do you know what is so special about this space and our services? They are simple and easy. We believe in helping busy families establish easy-to-follow systems to help everybody stay connected, organized, and streamlined. The team started with the most extensive and challenging categories because we knew the client would feel more at ease after touching every single item in the space during the sorting process. They worked alongside our lead organizers while other team members were adjusting shelves, relocating items, collecting, re-homing, and labeling.
This space took four days total to complete. Our team worked in six-hour sessions and took rotating 30-minute lunch breaks. Each day we left home, we gave a tiny bit of homework for the client to go through before the next day and removed carloads full of donations. With it close to thanksgiving and Christmas, ABCCM and Homeward Bound were thrilled to receive the gently used decorations. The clients were so happy with the final walk that they asked us to help with other spaces in their homes. Soon after, the team went on to organize two garages on the property, an entryway, a travel section in the master closet, an art room, and later this month, and our team is organizing an RV loft.
In less than a week, this space was completely transformed to accommodate all members of the home. The average person can mentally spend 2-3 hours a day of focus time organizing before decision fatigue happens. Not to mention once you decide to start organizing the after math of taking donations to all of the different spaces around town can be equally exhausting. A professional organizer helping you declutter your space and your mind is “the most life changing investment.”
